When you’re packing to move house, you’re bound to find unwanted items that have been shoved in the attic, or hidden in the cupboard under the stairs and forgotten about. These discoveries can be a joy as you discover much loved items that you want to keep, but can pose problems when they’re items that you no longer have a use for.
What do you do with all the stuff that you no longer want? There’s plenty of ways to get rid of items, some of which can make you money! Avoid throwing things in the wheelie bin by trying the following.
Car Boot Sales
A perfect way to make a little extra pocket money, families looking to get rid of toys, clothes, and other much-used items that no longer have a place in your lives should fill up their cars and head to their closest car boot sale. Hope for a sunny day and be sure to have a table, blanket, or rails to hand so that you can display your wares as best as possible, and be prepared for a haggler or two.
Antique Fairs
If you’re a lover of expensive goods, then perhaps the car boot route isn’t the right way to go, as it could see your expensive items being sold at a fraction of their value. Instead, consider heading to an antique fair, or even an auction house as this can get you a better profit on your possessions. You could also try selling these items online, to increase the amount of potential buyers.
Charity Shops
If you don’t want the hassle of properly sorting through your goods, or have any leftovers that you’ve failed to sell, then the next stop is the charity shop. Charity shops are a great way of getting rid of unwanted items, as they save you from chucking items in the bin and help raise funds for vital causes.
