We’ve all experienced the terror when packing for a holiday and finding that you can’t fit all your essentials into your suitcase. While this fear can quickly be overcome by taking out the extra pair of flip flops, when it comes to unpacking at your new home, the problem can be slightly more difficult to resolve.
So, what are your options when it comes to moving home and finding out you’ve got too much stuff?
Don’t Panic!
If you’re finding it difficult to fit everything you own into your new home when moving, it is important not to panic. There are plenty of solutions, if you find that you really can’t fit everything in.
Think of Alternatives
If there is no way that you will be able to fit everything you own into your new home, then it’s time to start thinking about alternative options. There are three main options when it comes to sorting your extra belongings:
- Sell – Selling items that you won’t use and that don’t find in your new home is a great way to get rid of your old stuff. This will mean that you make some extra money that can be put towards decorating your new home, or be put towards something rewarding like a holiday.
- Store – If you really don’t want to get rid of the items, or haven’t quite made up your mind about what to do with them, then placing them into storage is the best solution. This will keep your belongings safe while you decide what to do.
- Throw away – if you’ve got plenty of stuff that has no value to you or anyone else you know and you don’t think it will make you any money, then there is only one solution. Throwing items away will solve your space issues. Before you take stuff straight to the tip, do consider whether charity shops will take the items.
